And the winner is...

The OSCARS are tomorrow nite and I am pretty sure "The King's Speech" will take home best picture. I have not seen this movie but have seen the scenario enough before to know when a movie will win. It has been a complaint for a while among critics and fans that the Academy start to identify and recognize all movies as talents. A few years ago, "Wedding Crashers" came out and was at that time the biggest grossing R-rated comedy of all time, when awards came around - no nominations for screenplay, directing, acting or best film. Not only did it do good at the box office, but was raved in reiews all around as funny, crude and good.

Last year, they said the same thing about "The Hangover" which is now the biggest grossing R-rated comedy of all time and in my opinoin. one of the best. it has become an instant classic, widely quoted and well reviewd movie. Point is, if they are an academy to recognize achievements in film making and all it entails, do not leave it to a select genre with few exceptions here and there. My vote for best picture this year would be "Inception" it was an original movie, alot of natural sets over CGI at times, and a superb cast that delivered the entire team, leaving the audience having water cooler topics for days after watching.

Awesomeness in RAW form

There are somethings in life that will only be answered in the sake of argument. Pepsi v. Coke; Ken v. Ryu: Batman v. Superman (always Batman) and who would win in a fight. The latter being the topic of many MMA superfights that fans wish would and possibly could happen. The only thing preventing this is either the allegiance fighters have with each other (training camps, friendships, etc.) or the weight classes are too different to make it happen.

I for one would love to see GSP v. Anderson Silva, there is alot of hype saying it could this year and it may, when it does I am ordering it no questions asked. I love GSP but feel the Spider will catch him like all other opponents..not to take away from GSP but facts and stats are hard to argue with. That said, Anderson Silva said when Lyoto Machida was LHW champ they would never fight because of their friendship and they train together...this vid below shows what could have been. Lyoto may be on a 2 fight losing skid, but the dude is still one of the best and tricky for any opponent

With cheese please

I woke up this mornnig and was getting ready for work and was flippin channels to see what I could kill time with and..there it was, in all of its gooey, cheese glory: Street Fighter: The Movie. Not the re-vamp from a few yrs ago, I am talkin about the JVCD and Raul Julia cinema masterpiece from 1994. This was so cheesy I was almost late for work I was caught up in it. The costumes, lines, set pieces - everything about it. the movie is so bad in so many ways but this is what makes it a classic. Its a fast food movie, not good by any means but so enjoyable.

What happened to all the cheesy movies. I mean there are a few here and there now, but nothing like the 80's to mid 90's. The films coming out now either suck, are decent, cult classic or just popcorn cinema. The popcorn cinema of today is not cheesy but crappy - Transformers 2 was a crappy popcorn flick, but Masters of the Univers, that was a great movie and had all the cheddar on film Eternia could handle.

Zombie Vacation

Dead Island, a new zombie game coming out soon for XBOX 360/PS3 could be another title in a slew of the abused genre of video games: survival horror. Resident Evil started the trend years ago and those games were classic (the first 2 at least) and there have been memorable entries in the category since; ex: Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, RDD: Undead Nightmare among others. This is not my choice type of game since I feel the field is polluted with only slight things to give the game a unique feel.

However, just watching this preview and the cinematic element alone already makes me want to play. A flashback that has a child falling out of a resort room window, tackling her father and chewing on him while her mother flails a buthcer knife at the zombie horde..looks like a new type of game to explore in an already promising year for gamers. Am I alone in my opinion, look for yourself and sound off...

Red Dead Redemption Best Glitches Compilation

Red Dead Ridiculous

So, I finally decided to join the rest of the gaming world and went online with my systems in the last few days and embarked on the uber popular world of - MULTIPLAYER. I have heard the stories, seen the videos of fat kids everywhere destroying computers and some kids crying because their dad made them log off to sleep for a lacrosse tournament. I did not think it would be so hard...until I logged in.

Literally, 30 seconds not even able to roam Mexico, my Red Dead avatar was sniped, in succession by some 11 yr old from Kansas. I was like, ok game on..no not game on. Death was everywhere and I could not escape. I went into a save the town mode with a buddy and that was worse. Everytime I turned around, the same guy was there blowing my head off, I was so excited when I actually took someone out, only to get capped immediately after. Making matters worse was the fact that you can hear smoe off these clowns on screen bad mouthing you. Funny at first, irritating later.

I am uploading a video of some funny RDD stuff and if anyone wants to do work, hit me up - WillyG805 on PlayStation Network

Upcoming: UFC 127 Penn v. Fitch

Next Saturday nite, BJ Penn will be making his way to Sydney, Australia to face off in what I think, is going to be the biggest fight in his career. He has had a succesful run at lightweight for such a long time and is regarded as one of the best in that weight class...until he met Frankie Edgar..twice.

Now he has moved back to a higher weight class (commonly a fighter will drop weight to imrpve their skills) BJ has been welterweight and lighweight champ in the UFC club, so why is this so important? I feel it is because it will cement his place in history. He KO'd long time rival (now training partner) Matt Hughes back in Nov 2010 and faces highly regarded Jon Fitch next week for a title shot @ Georges St. Pierre.

This fight is more importnat for Penn than his opponent. Both men have lost (decidedly and without a doubt) to the current champ, GSP. Penn has lost twice, and in the second match via corner stoppage. His own camp (all his family) threw the towel in to stop the beating. The result opened "Greasegate" and accused GSP of cheating, going as far as taking it to the NSAC for a loss appeal (which Penn lost also). If he beats Fitch and goes against GSP, I feel it will be history repeating itself. The Prodigy has developed a new stricking skill shown in his victory over Hughes, but can he mentally prepare himself to go against GSP for a third dance, already down 0-2? UFC 127 will be the invitation for the set-up

Also on the card will be Bisping v. Rivera & Siver v. Sotiropoulos among other fghts on the card. I dont think this is a PPV necessity but you be the judge. We will have commentary after the fight and see how things shape out in their respective divisions
